How to handle any Nuisance Phone Calls

Nuisance phone calls may be spontaneous calls or silent calls or strange unpleasant calls that usually happen occasionally not repeatedly from the same phone number. They are not usually intimidating but can often be annoying for the recipients, if they are offensive they can cause real distress.

Silent calls have a tendency to be ones that originate from automated or predictive diallers or perhaps from a call centre that doesn't have enough staff or proper systems to make automated outbound calls work with their team.

Trace Nuisance Calls | Lookup Nuisance Numbers

Who Calls Me.com gives a reverse telephone number lookup registry which can identify some callers from their phone number. If you need to trace a mobile number you can use MobilePhoneNumber.com however lots of this information is data protected.

Stop Nuisance Calls | Nuisance Call Blocking

If you do actually decide that you need to stop nuisance calls then there are a number of things you can do. If you are a domestic home & want to stop unsolicited sales and marketing calls you can register with the Telephone Preference Service online: https://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/consumer

You can request that your telecom provider blocks mysterious calls to your number; although this may also block some real calls from outside the UK.

Blacklist Nuisance Calls | Stop Certain Call Types

If you need to stop certain strange repeatedly nuisance caller then there are a number of things you can do. We can stop any particular caller whom keeps calling your organisation, no problem, we can type their number into a banned list feature using the on-net feature called blacklistingWe can only do this on our virtual numbers, not your ddi’s – obviously, a cloud number has cloud features that can be activated to control the calls to that number and how they are handled/answered.

Anyone in the blacklist reject list is then treated differently to any other normal caller. You can decide to do anything with any particular caller (from the cli they represent) we can play them an individual wav, cut that call off dead, make them hear an engaged tone or just as you prefer leave them on hold forever. Anyone calling from a with-held number will still be able to get through..

With this feature we can stop most calls from certain call types e.g calls from Manchester landlines or calls from UK mobiles. We cannot guarantee to stop all call types from e.g UK Payphone calls however most of the 63,000 payphone numbers will be rejected by this feature. 0800 calls from payphones are very expensive to receive (for owners of 080 numbers) as Ofcom have agreed a high subsidised rate so we can stop many of these calls.

If we apply a blacklist to stop certain calls that are deliberately not presenting a cli (callers numbers) this may stop all calls from overseas or sip voice calls too where again no cli may be presented. Blacklisting two caller types together for example unidentified calls & payphone calls is possible too through this useful feature.

Report Nuisance Calls

You can report nuisance calls to Ofcom. Silent calls can be accounted for here:

Whitelist Valued Callers | VIP Experience for Certain Callers

Similarly if you need to better handle a valued customers calls then there are a number of things you can do. We can VIP handle any particular caller whom is valued by your organisation, we add their number into a white-list feature using the feature called white listing. We can only do this on our virtual cloud numbers as the cloud can be programmed to activate individual responses for different callers calling the same number, to control that callers’ experience i.e how you handle/answer there call.
